Your timepiece is built to last, but proper care will ensure it performs beautifully for years to come. Here is everything you need to know about maintaining your hand-assembled watch.

Automatic Movement Basics

Your watch is powered by a genuine automatic movement. This means it is driven by the natural motion of your wrist throughout the day. There is no battery to replace. The mainspring stores energy as you move, keeping the watch running continuously.

  • Power reserve: Approximately 41 hours when fully wound.
  • If your watch stops: Simply wind the crown clockwise 20 to 30 times to start the movement, then set the time and date.
  • Daily wear: Regular wear (8+ hours) will keep the movement fully charged.

How to Wind Your Watch

  1. Unscrew the crown (if applicable) by turning it counterclockwise until it pops out slightly.
  2. In the first position (pushed in), turn the crown clockwise. You will feel gentle resistance as the mainspring winds.
  3. Wind 20 to 30 turns for a full charge.
  4. Push the crown back in and screw it down (if applicable) to maintain water resistance.

Setting the Time

  1. Pull the crown out to the second position (outermost).
  2. Turn the crown to set the desired time.
  3. Push the crown back in and screw it down.

Important: Never set the date between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as the date mechanism is engaged during this window and forcing it can cause damage.

  1. Pull the crown out to the first position (one click out).
  2. Turn the crown to advance the date.
  3. Once set, push the crown back in and secure it.

Water Resistance (5ATM / 50m)

Your timepiece is rated to 5ATM (50 meters), which means it is suitable for:

  • Everyday wear, including rain and splashes
  • Brief immersion (hand washing, light swimming)

Avoid:

  • Hot showers, saunas, or hot tubs (heat and steam can compromise seals)
  • Operating the crown while the watch is submerged
  • Diving or high-pressure water activities

Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in and screwed down (if applicable) before any water exposure.

Cleaning Your Watch

  • Wipe the case and crystal with a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • For steel bracelets, use a soft brush with mild soapy water, rinse briefly, and dry thoroughly.
  • For leather or fabric straps, avoid water contact and clean with a dry cloth.
  • Never use chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners.

Storage

  • Store your watch in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Keep it away from strong magnetic fields (phones, speakers, laptops, magnetic clasps).
  • If you will not wear it for an extended period, wind it periodically to keep the movement lubricated.
  • Consider a watch box or pouch to prevent scratches.

GMT Models

If your timepiece features a GMT complication (NH34A movement):

  • The GMT hand tracks a second timezone on a 24-hour scale.
  • Set the GMT hand by pulling the crown to the first position and turning it.
  • The rotating bezel can be used as a third timezone reference.

Chronograph Models

If your timepiece features a chronograph complication (VK63 meca-quartz movement):

  • The top pusher starts and stops the chronograph.
  • The bottom pusher resets the chronograph hand to zero.
  • Always stop the chronograph before resetting.
  • The VK63 uses a battery (approximately 3-year lifespan). Contact us for replacement guidance.

Avoid

  • Strong impacts or drops
  • Exposure to chemicals (perfume, cleaning products, chlorine)
  • Extreme temperature changes
  • Strong magnetic fields
